About

Ni’Yushin is on a mission to bring the spirit of nature of the forest into the hearts of humanity.

In our seemingly disconnected and consumeristic world, we have lost the direct connection with the life-giving force of nature. Everywhere you look there is division, separation, competition, greed, environmental collapse. At the very core of this disease is the separation from nature, the Self, from Source.  Ni’Yushin works with original people across the Amazonias who have not lost this connection to build a bridge to the modern world. In this way, modernity can be exposed to the wisdom, potency and resilience of original peoples such as the Yawanawá, to help bring this life force into the hearts of many.

Ni’Yushin is an indigenous organization working support their families, their lands, and their projects.

Ni’Yushin works across many sectors and holds many projects together; however the heart of everything that is being done is the medicinal plants. The forest holds the wisdom for healing, reconnection and transformation. Ni Yushin is building research centers and laboratories to bring more awareness to the healing potential of the plants and also to continue funding the education of the indigenous youth so that they can keep the wisdom tradition alive.

Our mission at Ni Yushin is to awaken and inspire.

Projects

Ni’Pei

Ni’Yushin is dedicated to the preservation and conservation of the sacred knowledge as well as uses of the medicinal plants, ‘Nipei’ in the Yawanawá culture, to best utilize their full healing power and potential.

Over the past few years, many of the elders known as Nipeihu’s (medicine men who carry the knowledge of the many Nipei plants), have begun to fade away. These elders are like precious living encyclopedias; guardians of the sacred healing teachings and knowledge. It is with utmost importance and urgency that the remaining knowledge is recorded and carried on within the Yawanawá people.

Ni Yushin is currently implementing a project to ensure the continuation of this precious knowledge. For this intelligence- the ancestral sacred wisdom, both the precious and unique knowledge regarding the plant medicines and the proper way to use them- is exactly what is needed in our world today.

Ni’Yushin is undertaking projects both in the Yawanawá Village of Mutum as well as at our center Guananshe Sanctuary in Serra Grande, Bahia, Brazil.

Yawanawá

The Yawanawá have a deep traditional knowledge of the forest, its plants, and healing properties. They have always passed this knowledge from one generation to the next through their oral tradition. The Yawanawá are at risk of losing their traditional knowledge due to the rapid deforestation of the Amazon Rainforest. The impact of colonization, including being forbidden from teaching their language and culture, has created a generational gap in passing this knowledge from one generation to the next. The elders of the villages, the last keepers of their traditional knowledge, are dying before they can pass it onto the new generations.
